The ways in which we do our jobs, the ways we work, and the ways in which we learn have changed. With changes such as knowledge intensive societies, 5th and 6th generational knowledge, and decreases in time to develop employees, microlearning can provide significant benefits in the Professional Training environment.
Challenges
- Sequencing of microlearning courses could be out of order based on how user views / navigates content
- Requires specialization to develop microlearning modules
- Development tools can be costly
- Modification and/or updates of microlearning modules can be costly depending on development tool
- Microlearning modules are less diagnostic than facilitator-led modules
